As time changes, so do people and their responsibilities. The kinds of responsibilities and obstacles the present generation has to deal with now are much different from what the past generations had to deal with. Some of them were not even present. Nowadays, the generation has to deal with obstacles such as dealing with the stress of attending school as well as having a job. They also have to deal with peer pressure for drugs and alcohol, something their parents probably did not experience back in their time. Moreover, relationship problems are also becoming a major issue these days as well.
Firstly, in the past generations most people usually had work to focus on or school to focus to on. Nowadays kids find themselves dealing with the stress of both. They have to manage to keep their grades up and pay attention in school as well as be responsible and make their own money by going to work. The stress of trying to do well in school and making our parents proud as well as trying to be independent and getting a job so we can pay for our own things can sometimes be overwhelming and difficult. It usually has a negative impact on the individual and stresses them out as they would like to have a life other than school and work.
Secondly, peer pressure is a huge deal nowadays because people are always convincing others to try something such as alcohol or drugs. This is really hard to deal with as one tries to fit in but they also do not want to make a bad decision that will permanently influence their own life. Dealing with drinking and drugs is a big deal in our generation because it seems like everyone is doing it and it’s just you that is left out. This is when individuals struggle with the stress of the choices they make. Even though it’s as easy as saying “no” one has to deal with what there friends will think of them which adds to the stress of everything else.
Lastly, relationships are a major issue in this generation. People look for emotional and physical support from an individual who they care about dearly. When their significant other get into fights or breaks up, they have to deal with the lack physical and emotional support they use get. This can get highly stressful as they have been so use to the support being there thus stressing them out and making it a major issue as it affects the normal mood of the individual. Relationships were more serious back in the days so it was not half as stressful.
In conclusion there are many responsibilities that teenagers have to face that their parents did not. It was a much simpler time back then and there was not as much stress as there were many jobs available; drugs were not really used as school socials, and relationships were much more serious.
